X Levitation Cult odd name, good music. If you're into lush, harmonic, indie rock this is just the thing. Catchy tunes + dark lyrics + an awesome voice = Happiness in Hell, the debut album from this Seattle-based band.
I heard a snippet of one of the songs (and I can't remember which) on The Mountain radio station while driving one day and was struck enough to find a pen and paper to note the band's name as soon as I could. That was last winter.
The album release was delayed a few months and I was so glad to learn it was finally available on iTunes. And there's zero buyer's remorse. I haven't enjoyed the entirety of an album so much in a long time.

Remember the days when you would buy an album and actually listen to the whole thing all the way through? Well this is one of those albums. Joie has an amazing sense of melody and the production by Rob Daiker, Joie and all those involved is really well done---nice layers and atmospheric touches to fill out the sound. The bottom line though, as with any great album is the songs.

You can feel the love that was poured into this first cd from XLC. Joie's voice can reach right in and touch your soul and leave you wanting for more. The best thing is every song is my favorite.
